Abstract

The main objective of this theoretical work is to study the influence of the operating parameters such as relative humidity, dry-bulb temperature, seawater temperature, humid air flow rate, and seawater flow rate on fresh water produced by dehumidification of humid air in the condenser of an existing seawater greenhouse that is located in Muscat, Oman. The theoretical results show that the mass condensate rate of the process increases with the augmentation of the relative humidity, the dry-bulb temperature, and the humid air flow rate. However, the seawater temperature and the seawater flow rate have a negative effect. The maximum theoretical mass condensate rate obtained was about 155 kg/h. This result is obtained under the following conditions: for air dry-bulb temperature Tdb = 50°C, relative humidity RH = 97%, inlet seawater temperature Tswin = 28.33°C, humid air flow rate , and seawater flow rate .
