Abstract

The reaction of 1.2-dibromoethane with 1.3-bis mercapto-2-thiapropane in high dilution leads to the formation of 1.3.5-trithiepane. The properties of this compound are described. The attempt to synthesize this compound by the reaction of 1.2-ethanedithiole with bis-bromomethyl sulfide has not yet been successful. In this reaction 1.3-dithiolane and s-trithiane are formed.
